Coaching isn’t simply about problem solving or goal setting, and can be used in all areas of life as personal growth is central to the process.
The emphasis throughout is to work from a strengths perspective, helping you to see existing positives that can be built on. Sometimes we find ourselves at a crossroads, or see an opportunity for change but we’re not sure how to make it happen, or what we would need to do to get there. There isn’t always a specific goal in mind either; sometimes these start off as more of a question.
If changes are made externally, then their success is dependent on the environment staying the same, so it is easy to become unstuck. Placing yourself central in the process of change is crucial to supporting growth.
By exploring things in more detail you’ll be able to give yourself new options to change the way you live your life, the decisions you make and the relationship you have with yourself and others around you.
By incorporating techniques such as Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), you’ll begin to notice where the barriers to change are thereby enabling you to stand back and see things from a distance. By gaining a new perspective you’ll be able to make decisions from a position of integrity, self-awareness and clarity.
In essence, coaching helps us to create a direction of travel, the means of getting there; the emotional charge to use as leverage, and the source of energy that will be required to sustain positive change.
Our coaching practitioners:
Hi, I’m Vicky. I’m an EMDR Therapist, Wellbeing Coach and Reiki Practitioner. I feel my ultimate aim in the work I do with people is to enable them to live to their highest potential.
I have 23 years’ experience of working within the NHS as a Specialist Mental Health Social Worker. I am also an experienced Practice Educator.
I work alongside adults and young people who experience mental health difficulties, which include anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorder and psychosis. I can work with people on their own or alongside their partners and families to help them achieve and maintain well-being in every area of life.
EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing) combines psychology and physiology to help people to identify, clear and heal from difficult life experiences and the emotional distress that these can cause.
Wellbeing coaching and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) focuses primarily on the future rather than exploring the root cause of mental distress and offers the opportunity to move beyond goal setting. It helps us to understand how we interpret the world, where we see ourselves in it and the reasons that we make certain decisions. In this way we can help to reprogram the brain in relation to patterns of thinking and behaviour. Overall, Coaching is a process of guided discovery combined with natural intuition ensuring that you move forward from a position of clarity and integrity which will support you to achieve the changes you hope to make
