Remote sessions

As you aware, we are now only offering online or phone sessions until the current situation with coronavirus is over. Some of you are used to online meetings etc but I’m aware that a lot of people aren’t (I’m sure we will all become experts over the next few weeks!). We have put together a few basic instructions for your first online session, we understand that it might be trial and error to start but we’ll all soon get used to it!

Online sessions:

We have taken advice from the Information Commissioner and NHSX who advise: “We encourage the use of video conferencing to carry out consultations with patients and service users. This could help to reduce the spread of COVID 19. It is fine to use video conferencing tools such as Skype, WhatsApp, Facetime as well as commercial products designed specifically for this purpose. The consent of the patient or service user is implied by them accepting the invite and entering the consultation. But you should safeguard personal/confidential patient information in the same way you would with any other consultation.”

We are therefore offering Zoom (similar to Skype) as this is s secure platform, but if anyone prefers WhatsApp, FaceTime etc, please let us know.

Your Therapist will have or will contact you prior to your session to determine how you would like to undergo your session. They will then send you any relevant information you need where required.

For Zoom sessions:

It is easier if you download zoom and set up as a new user before the appointment. The link is here.
Once you are set up, prior to your appointment, you will be sent an email with a link to the scheduled meeting You should be able to click on the link and it will open the meeting on your screen.

Phone Sessions:

Your therapist will ring you on your mobile (unless you state otherwise) at the time of your appointment.

If you would like a test run before your session, please let Briony know (admin@yorkshirepsychotherapy.co.uk or ring 01226934577) and she is happy to run through it with you.
Any questions, just ask, we’re trying our best to get organised and change our practices, please bear with us 🙂

Kind Regards
