About Sophie:

I have worked in adult and children’s mental health services for 25 years and I love supporting people to understand themselves better and make meaningful changes so they can move through struggles and feel more like themselves again.

You might notice that low self-esteem or confidence is holding you back from things you would like in your life. Perhaps low mood or anxiety is making everyday tasks feel harder than they should. It may be that you have experienced a traumatic event and feel stuck, unsure how to move forward.

I also support children and young people who may be struggling with anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem, difficulties managing big emotions, or navigating important life transitions. I work in a developmentally sensitive and compassionate way to help young people make sense of their feelings, build emotional regulation skills, and grow in confidence.

I am a CBT and EMDR therapist, and I use these approaches alongside a strong focus on compassion and kindness towards yourself. Together we can explore why you are having the experiences you are, and work towards meaningful changes in your life.

Whether your goal is to stop putting things off, improve your relationships, heal past trauma, or finally apply for that job you tell yourself you are not good enough for, I can support you to move from feeling stuck or unsure to feeling clearer and more confident.

I also specialise in supporting adoptive parents’ mental health. I understand how parenting through adoption can amplify existing worries and self-doubt, and may bring feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, identity shifts, grief and loss, post-adoption depression, compassion fatigue and blocked care. Here your experience is heard, understood and supported — without blame.
