Bimla Heera

Specialist Nurse/EMDR

Price per session: £100

I have qualifications in Adult Mental Health Nursing and in General Nursing. Over the last 20 years or so I have worked with families, children and the extended family.

I have an interest in multi-cultural trans-generational issues that affect the family functioning on a daily basis; and how this can affect the ability to sustain and improve relationships within the family. As a Mental Health Nurse I have a good understanding of how cultural and trans-generational issues can affect the mental health of all family members.

As a General Nurse I also have a good idea of how physical ill health can impact on an individuals and their family.

I also have an interest in women’s health, having worked in obstetrics and gynaecology. Here I met a lot of brave and courageous women and their families who had experience loss, either through miscarriage and/or through the trauma of birth. I am able to offer psychological therapies to improve psychological wellbeing.

I also have an interest in trauma and have helped many adults to understand themselves from a trauma perspective; furthermore I have treated many individuals using trauma focussed therapeutic models.

Given my experience I can draw upon the many therapeutic models such as psychotherapeutic models, such as Eye movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Solution focussed therapies Cognitive behavioural Therapy and family based interventions to improve the wellbeing of individuals and the family members.

I am able to work with couples who are finding their own situation difficult trying to balance their own beliefs and incorporating the needs of their extended family members.
