Kezia Mathieson

CBT Therapist - Adults & Adolescents

Price per session: £110

My name is Kezia and I am a CBT psychotherapist and Registered Mental Health Nurse. I have 11 years of experience working in the field of mental health. Much of my clinical experience is with young people and adults between 14-65.

I believe we all encounter emotional problems in our lives. I approach therapy with a warm, non-judgemental attitude and my style of therapy reflects this. It is important to me that you feel safe and supported throughout your therapy journey.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) has a strong evidence base with many different human problems. I have experience of using CBT to help people overcome many problems including anxiety, depression, phobias, OCD, low self-esteem, body dysmorphia, trauma and more. I am deeply committed to providing high quality, evidence based therapy to my clients. I also use ‘third wave’ cognitive behavioural approaches in my practice, including mindfulness, compassion focused therapy (CFT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

One of my special interests is in perinatal mental health. This includes problems like tokophobia (the fear of giving birth), birth trauma, perinatal anxiety, depression, and perinatal OCD. I developed a passionate interest in this area whilst undertaking my own journey into parenthood.

My professional qualifications include BSc Hons in Nursing Studies (Mental Health) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy. As well as being a BABCP accredited CBT psychotherapist, I remain a registered member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). I have also undertaken additional training in compassion focused therapy (CFT) and behavioural family therapy (BFT) interventions.

I hold an enhanced DBS certificate, am fully insured and undertake regular clinical supervision with an accredited supervisor.

I offer remote sessions delivered by Microsoft Teams, Skype, or Zoom.
