CBT Therapist - Adults

Abigail Bradbury
CBT Therapist - Adults
Price per session: £110
I have had the privilege of working in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) as a therapist, supervisor, and trainer for a number of years. I was previously based in NHS Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) Services in North Yorkshire and Leeds, now known as NHS Talking Therapies, and until recently I worked at the University of Sheffield training future therapists and supervisors. I am now focussing solely on my private CBT practice.
I worked within NHS mental health services for 14 years. I completed my CBT training in 2011 and I have extensive experience of using CBT to help people work with emotional problems such as:
- Depression
- Low self-esteem
- Panic attacks and agoraphobia
- Social Anxiety Disorder
- Chronic worry (or Generalised Anxiety Disorder)
- Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Phobias
- Health anxiety
- Sleep difficulties
- Body image difficulties
- Some eating disorders
- Perfectionism
I recognise just how difficult it can be to ask for help and to start a course of therapy. I believe it is important to provide a safe and supportive environment and establish a trusting therapeutic relationship from the outset. This can help people to take the necessary steps that will ultimately reduce emotional distress and improve the quality of their lives. CBT focuses on helping people to develop a better understanding of their difficulties and learn new ways of thinking and acting. I adopt a compassionate, non-judgmental, and collaborative approach with all patients.
I am also a qualified clinical supervisor and have provided supervision to individual therapists and groups, from trainees to more experienced therapists. For 6 years I was a teacher, tutor, and clinical supervisor on the IAPT CBT course at the University of Sheffield, which trains future CBT Therapists. Furthermore, I was the Programme Director for the Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Supervision, which trains clinical supervisors who supervise Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) working within schools helping children of all ages. I was also the Programme Director for the IAPT Supervisor Programme, which trains clinical supervisors who supervise clinicians working within IAPT services.
I have enjoyed delivering workshops and career talks to local universities and to the public. I also acted as a discussant for a symposium on ‘IAPT and Primary Care’ and delivered a workshop at the 2019 BABCP national conference. The title of the workshop was ‘Maximising your effectiveness as a CBT Therapist’. Indeed, spreading the word of CBT and that mental health matters is something I am very passionate about.
I receive regular clinical supervision and ensure I am up to date with the latest developments in CBT. I am committed to Continued Professional Development and I am an accredited member of the BABCP. I am DBS checked and have Public Liability Insurance.

CBT Therapist - Adults

Andrew Kemp
CBT Therapist - Adults
Price per session: £125
My name is Andrew Kemp, I’m a fully qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
I have been practising CBT for over 10 years and worked with thousands of clients, within the NHS, through charities and privately. I currently work for a psychotherapy charity in Leeds, working alongside the NHS to offer CBT.
I aim to work in a way that helps the client to feel comfortable yet challenged. I speak in plain English and don’t overcomplicate things. It’s about finding the style and techniques that work for the individual and everyone is exactly that, individual.
I believe that the key to effective therapy is to have a strong, trusting relationship and for client and therapist to work together, as equals. I work hard to achieve that therapeutic relationship and find a style that works for the individual.
I have significant experience working with depression and anxiety disorders including OCD, GAD (worry), Social Anxiety, Phobias, Stress, and Health Anxiety. I have a keen interest in the impact of Covid-19 on mental health and specialise in CBT for weight loss and associated low self-esteem.

Specialist Nurse & EMDR Therapist
Price per session: £100 remote, £110 face to face
I have qualifications in Adult Mental Health Nursing and in General Nursing. Over the last 20 years or so I have worked with families, children and the extended family.
I have an interest in multi-cultural trans-generational issues that affect the family functioning on a daily basis; and how this can affect the ability to sustain and improve relationships within the family. As a Mental Health Nurse I have a good understanding of how cultural and trans-generational issues can affect the mental health of all family members.
As a General Nurse I also have a good idea of how physical ill health can impact on an individuals and their family.
I also have an interest in women’s health, having worked in obstetrics and gynaecology. Here I met a lot of brave and courageous women and their families who had experience loss, either through miscarriage and/or through the trauma of birth. I am able to offer psychological therapies to improve psychological wellbeing.
I also have an interest in trauma and have helped many adults to understand themselves from a trauma perspective; furthermore I have treated many individuals using trauma focussed therapeutic models.
Given my experience I can draw upon the many therapeutic models such as psychotherapeutic models, such as Eye movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Solution focussed therapies Cognitive behavioural Therapy and family based interventions to improve the wellbeing of individuals and the family members.
I am able to work with couples who are finding their own situation difficult trying to balance their own beliefs and incorporating the needs of their extended family members.

Clinical Psychology

Dr Lisa Moss
Clinical Psychology
Price per session: £125
Hi, I’m Lisa. I am a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist working in both NHS and independent practice. Since qualification, I have specialised in assessment and support for children, adolescents and adults with Autism and ADHD. I offer remote sessions in my work with Yorkshire Psychotherapy Ltd. I accept both self-funded clients and I am registered with a number of insurers.
You might feel like it’s difficult to know where to start in making sense of your difficulties. In these circumstances, it can often be beneficial to book an initial assessment to determine the nature of your needs, and to help understand which therapeutic approach or intervention would be most useful to you going forward. This might include further work with myself, or with another member of our team. Perhaps you are a parent looking for some time-limited consultation around mental health issues for your child.
In some cases, I am able to provide more in-depth assessments and reports which can serve as a written record for yourself or other professionals. Please contact to discuss your specific requirements.
I have some availability for therapy as part of my work with the team. I am an integrative Clinical Psychologist, drawing on a number of different theoretical and evidenced-based approaches. I believe that therapy should be collaborative and bespoke, and individually tailored to your needs.
I have experience in working with a range of mental health issues, including anxiety, low mood and poor self-esteem. Perhaps you are an adult and have recently received a diagnosis of Autism or ADHD and want help to make sense of this, or you might be looking for sessions to help you manage your ADHD symptoms using psychological approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
Please contact me to discuss your needs further or book direct via our website.

EMDR Therapist - Adults

Emma Walker
EMDR Therapist - Adults
Price per session: £110
Offering face to face appointments in Hoyland, Barnsley and Headingly, Leeds. Hello, my name is Emma, I am a Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) registered and practicing mental health nurse with over 19 year’s experience of working within the NHS. I completed my BSc Degree at Leeds Metropolitan University in 2004 and have undertaken further training at Huddersfield University to become an Independent Nurse Prescriber. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and deliver EMDR as part of my role within the NHS and privately. I am fully insured and am a member of the EMDR Associations UK and Ireland.
I have worked in both community and hospital settings, including forensic services, helping people with a broad range of complex mental health difficulties including trauma, anxiety, depression, psychosis, schizophrenia, bi-polar affective disorder/manic depression, personality disorder and substance misuse to overcome their problems and to rebuild their lives. I use a range of therapeutic techniques in my clinical practice including:
- Ego State Therapy
- Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Breathing exercises
- Visualisation
- Mindfulness
I was first drawn to EMDR therapy after witnessing first-hand the effectiveness of this therapy in treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms caused by childhood trauma. A patient I had been working with had been troubled all his adult life by flashbacks, nightmares, intrusive thoughts, and anxiety, and after having three EMDR sessions they all stopped, his stutter disappeared, and he started to feel in control of his life for the first time. I was amazed by how quickly EMDR worked and how dramatically my patient’s life changed.
I started to research and look at the evidence base for EMDR therapy and was inspired to undertake training to become an EMDR therapist myself.
I have dedicated my life to helping people to understand and to overcome mental health difficulties. EMDR is a powerful therapy that has been life changing for so many people, it is a great privilege to support people on their road to recovery and to assist in changing lives for the better.

CBT Therapist - Adults

Kathryn Waddington
CBT Therapist - Adults
Price per session: £110
My name is Kathryn. I am a qualified Integrative and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. I have over 20 years experience working within neurorehabilitation and mental health services. Currently, I am in a position to offer both face to face therapy (based in Barnsley) and remote therapy (via Microsoft Teams).
I appreciate that, noticing that there is a problem in the first instance, and then reaching out, are two significant steps, both of which may come with mixed feelings and emotions. I pride myself in my commitment to provide a calm, safe and secure environment where you can merely be yourself, with the guarantee of respect and no judgement. With these a given, we have the foundation to develop and enhance our therapeutic alliance where personal understanding and growth can flourish.
I am dedicated to working collaboratively. Together, we can explore the psychological distress or difficulties that have been causing concern or caught your attention, build a mutual understanding, and identify the most suited and individualised therapeutic pathway to support your needs at this time. In this way, you can become your own master in accomplishing your personal goals and aspirations.
I offer a range of evidence based integrative and cognitive behavioural therapeutic approaches to help address symptoms associated with:
- Depression
- Low self-esteem/low confidence
- Generalised worry/anxiety
- Stress
- Health anxiety
- Social anxiety
- Obsessive compulsive disorder (intrusive thoughts/images, compulsive behaviours)
- Panic, with and without agoraphobia
- Specific phobias, such as spider, dog, vomit, needle phobias etc
- Post-traumatic stress disorder
- Body dysmorphic disorder
- Body image difficulties
- Binge eating disorder
- Insomnia/ sleep difficulties
- Depression and/or anxiety related to long-term health conditions or unexplained medical conditions
- Adjustment difficulties
I have an interest in the Compassion Focused approach, which places a significant emphasis upon moving away from the inner self-critic and toward the inner kinder voice. Furthermore, the Acceptance and Commitment Therapeutic approach is one of my special interests, which harnesses resilience, leaning toward acceptance of difficult and distressing experiences while simultaneously striving towards value-based living. I have found these approaches to be particularly useful for individuals where their situation may be static or unchangeable.
I receive regular clinical supervision. This provides a platform for myself to be the considerate and reflective Psychotherapist that I consider myself to be. I play an active role in continuing my professional development and to ensure that my practice is the most up to date and relevant.
I am a qualified Clinical Supervisor, with experience supporting Trainee Cognitive Behavioural Therapists from the start of their journey into accomplishing their qualified status.
I am a registered and accredited member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP) as well as a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I adhere to their ethical frameworks to ensure good and safe practice. I have an enhanced DBS certificate and have professional liability insurance.

Counsellor - Adults

Kathy Allatt
Counsellor - Adults
Price per session: £70 remote, £80 face to face
I am a qualified therapeutic counsellor and work with the person-centred model of therapy. I offer online and telephone counselling sessions, face-to-face and walk and talk therapy to adult clients across the UK. I also have extensive experience as a nurse working clinically within the NHS.
I am a caring, compassionate and empathic person and feel that these qualities help me to connect with people and develop therapeutic relationships which enable us to connect on a deeper level. I will create a space where you are safe to share without the fear of judgement.
I have significant experience working as a neonatal intensive care nurse supporting families to care for and bond with their sick or preterm babies. I understand that the neonatal journey is a rollercoaster of emotions and that transitioning from hospital to home can feel overwhelming. Exploring these feelings and fears within the counselling setting can help to understand the enormity of the challenges you have faced and explore how you can cope with the future. I have also supported many families with the loss of a baby. I believe that I can offer a space to guide parents through the grief and trauma of their devastating experience and support you to live alongside your grief.
My clinical experience within the NHS means that I understand how there is often a link between physical illness and our mental well-being. Having worked clinically throughout the pandemic I have a deep understanding of the pressures that healthcare workers are facing and feel that I could support you if you are struggling with work related issues.

CBT Therapist - Adults & Adolescents

Kezia Mathieson
CBT Therapist - Adults & Adolescents
Price per session: £110
My name is Kezia and I am a CBT psychotherapist and Registered Mental Health Nurse. I have 11 years of experience working in the field of mental health. Much of my clinical experience is with young people and adults between 14-65.
I believe we all encounter emotional problems in our lives. I approach therapy with a warm, non-judgemental attitude and my style of therapy reflects this. It is important to me that you feel safe and supported throughout your therapy journey.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) has a strong evidence base with many different human problems. I have experience of using CBT to help people overcome many problems including anxiety, depression, phobias, OCD, low self-esteem, body dysmorphia, trauma and more. I am deeply committed to providing high quality, evidence based therapy to my clients. I also use ‘third wave’ cognitive behavioural approaches in my practice, including mindfulness, compassion focused therapy (CFT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
One of my special interests is in perinatal mental health. This includes problems like tokophobia (the fear of giving birth), birth trauma, perinatal anxiety, depression, and perinatal OCD. I developed a passionate interest in this area whilst undertaking my own journey into parenthood.
My professional qualifications include BSc Hons in Nursing Studies (Mental Health) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy. As well as being a BABCP accredited CBT psychotherapist, I remain a registered member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). I have also undertaken additional training in compassion focused therapy (CFT) and behavioural family therapy (BFT) interventions.
I hold an enhanced DBS certificate, am fully insured and undertake regular clinical supervision with an accredited supervisor.
I offer remote sessions delivered by Microsoft Teams, Skype, or Zoom.

Art Psychotherapist

Lauren Degge
Art Psychotherapist
Price per session: £100
I am an Art Psychotherapist offering art therapy for children and adolescents. Adults can also benefit from art therapy through creativity and playfulness to express themselves in an alternative way. I have also experienced the therapeutic benefits of art when working with people with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
I have 2 years of experience working with the elderly with dementia and 5 years working with children and adults of various ages and have experience with the following:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Stress
- Low mood
- Body image difficulties
- Suicidal ideation/self-harm
- Abuse
- Neglect
- Trauma
- Challenging behaviours
- Autism
- Learning disabilities
- Adopted/Fostered/ SGO/ LAC
- Foster carers
- Dementia
What is art therapy? Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses the therapeutic use of art making and creativity for the expression of difficult feelings, thoughts and emotions. Sometimes it is easier to put these down in images rather than sharing verbally. This can feel less confrontational and direct which is particularly helpful for children, those who struggle to talk about their feelings and those with communication difficulties.
Art therapy is a non-judgemental, safe and confidential space. You do not need to be ‘good’ at art to take part in art therapy, just willing to experiment with art materials and your creativity. It is about expressing yourself – not making ‘masterpieces’ of art. I offer a wide range of creative materials to explore such as paints, pencils, pens, clay, collage, crafts, sewing, and mixed media. Your artwork is kept confidential and safe with me until the end of therapy. You may then decide to take this home or destroy it, the choice is yours.
My approach to art therapy is psychodynamic, which is based on the view that our past experiences influence our present behaviours, attitudes and reactions. It focuses on the unconscious and aims to support clients to gain insight and awareness to understand why they behave a certain way. This can help people to understand themselves to aid recovery and support improved self-esteem, confidence and self-worth. I am outcome focussed and aim to help my clients reach their therapeutic goals through art therapy directives and focussed sessions.
I am a member of the BAAT (British Association of Art Therapists) and registered by the HCPC. I have an enhanced DBS certificate, professional liabilities insurance, and attend frequent clinical supervision with an experienced supervisor with over 20 years of experience.
I offer face to face sessions in Barnsley and remote online art therapy via Microsoft Teams, Zoom or Skype.
